New year, new challenges. So in this vein, I have recently set up a public Instagram account for my smaller drawings, you can follow me now at alicegibneyart (or view the account in a web browser). Comment or email me if you are interested in purchasing, but hurry up they're going quickly.
On a side note, there is nothing like a trip to the Austrian mountains to clear the mind and make room for new stop animation and drawing projects, 2014 here I come!
Dublin, Hamburg, Berlin and Toronto all in the course of a couple months. Lots of travelling, eating, drawing and playing Auntie. That's my winter so far in a nutshell.
Things are revving up in the studio, I've started a new series of small-scale drawings based on the daydreams of a part-time office worker. Amongst other things, some highlights from September: teaching private painting classes, biking between coffee breaks, watching sunsets from trains, Berlin Art Week and a blast from the past.
MAY: I went to Paris to see an exhibition and lecture on my uncle Peter Rice, the creative engineering-genius behind many famous buildings such as the Sydney Opera House and Place Pompidou. While there, I wandered around the Louvre, daydreamed in the Tuileries and stopped by my favorite art store in the world: Sennelier.
JUNE: I took part in the weekend long art festival called 48 Stunden Neukölln. My studio is affiliated with Bootsbau Gallery so we had a shared event with our separate spaces. It was a great success, I met a lot of cool people and sold a bunch of work- nice way to spend a weekend.
JULY & AUGUST: Studio days, a trip to Nice, post-it animals, lots of coffee, ravens galore and Berlin magic.
